DCC Fitting & Conversion Service
We provide a professional DCC conversion service, specializing in N Gauge models made by Graham Farish, Minitrix, Dapol, Kato, Bachmann, Union Mills, Tomix, and others.
We can also install DCC sound and perform coreless motor upgrades as well as general servicing and repairs.
How does it work?
All DCC conversions include:
- Pre-conversion health check
- Test run video on our dedicated test track facility
- Programming to a Loco ID of your choice
- 3-month return to base warranty (transferrable)
- Tracked Royal Mail shipping covered up to £150
We can recommend and supply decoders to fit, or you are welcome to supply your own.
For all orders, a pre-conversion test run is performed on DC to make sure it is a good runner. Poor runners on DC can lead to reliability issues when converted. If it is not deemed a sufficiently good runner for conversion, we will contact you first as many running issues can be resolved.
All locos will be returned in the same packaging you sent them to us in, so please make sure it provides adequate protection.
How much does it cost?
The cost of upgrading to DCC depends on the complexity of the conversion. Newer models marked 'DCC Ready', 'DCC 6 Pin' or 'DCC Next18' are usually straightforward. In most cases, the decoder simply plugs into a socket inside the loco body.
Older models that were not designed to work with DCC take longer and may involve modifying the chassis, altering the wiring or replacing circuit boards.
How do I get started?
To start your conversion, carefully pack up your loco and send it to us with a completed order form below.
